Airbnb Guests Shock Host With How They Leave Her House at Check Out

A video of an Airbnb host who was met by “good people” for a recent booking has gone viral on TikTok.
The clip was shared by Courtney (@worthfit) and has amassed over 563,000 views since it was first posted on August 20.
The woman in the video said: “I Airbnb my primary residence…the house that I live in. And I think I just had the best guests ever. Look at this.”

The video goes on to show the interior of her home looking tidy, with beds made up, bed sheets removed, towels washed and hung to dry, and dishes done in the dishwasher.
She later said in the video: “Giving them five stars immediately.”
Lower cleaning fees was found to be “the top suggestion” in a survey done in May 2023 asking the Airbnb community about improvements they’d want to see, which received around 3,300 responses, Airbnb reported in September 2023.

According to the home rental platform, in 2023 over 260,000 listings lowered or removed their cleaning fees between January 1 and August 31, while nearly three million listings were found to not charge a cleaning fee.
Last year, Airbnb introduced transparent checkout instructions that are displayed on the listing page before guests make a booking. Guests can also provide their feedback on checkout instructions and listings with repeated low ratings from unreasonable chores may be removed from Airbnb, according to the company.

The Airbnb website says that some common tasks listed in checkout instructions can include gathering used towels, throwing away garbage and turning switches off.
“Remember that guests expect an easy checkout without any cleaning tasks. But they shouldn’t leave your place in a state that requires excessive or deep cleaning,” the website notes.
A caption shared with the viral post read: “When good people find my house.”
“Other than being clean, they did the dishes,” the woman says, with a note on the dishwasher shown saying “Clean – August 18@8am.”
She added: “Just a reminder, I have no check out chores. My only checkout instructions are to make sure you have all your things, because shipping can be expensive, and to get home safe. That’s it.”
The woman is later heard saying “clean” repeatedly while going through various rooms and flicking the light switch on.
She says: “Like I said, I don’t have any checkout chores, so I don’t expect this from every guest, and if guests don’t do it, I’m not bothered.”
“What an amazing surprise to come home to. The laundry is done, and I still need to clean, but the laundry is like half the battle. Giving them five stars immediately.”
